Another Maple Mini

Yesterday I sewed a few more mini maple blocks and then sewed them all into an 11" square with 1/2" sashing and corner stones.

I like this picture with the light from the back.
You can make these 2 1/4" (finished) maple leaf blocks with tutorial here.

Here's the crow with maples I'm thinking of putting a block polka dot border on.  Don't want to rush until I'm sure.

Mini Maples

Making miniature  (2 1/4" finished) maple leaf blocks with tutorial here.
The sun hitting the orange leaves really makes them pop against the black!
Just needs binding.  Black polka dot, I think.
Here's a link to a tutorial to make a crow block.

These maples will soon be a mini quilt hanging or maybe a pillow.

Wonderful Autumn Leaves and a Tutorial

Resplendent, inspiring, intoxicating!

Snapped this picture while on a walk today.  I'm soaking up as much as I can before the colors fade !
I started sewing my own autumn leaf collection!  See below for tutorial to make these 2 1/4" (finished) maple leaf blocks.

I was so happy to find some Fall UFO's...
....and to put out some favorite....

...fall things from the past!

My porch is ready for trick or treaters!

I made a crazy pumpkin quilt block into a Pumpkin potholder.

Miniature Maple Leaf Block Tutorial
Cut the following pieces for each block

When sewing around the 2 1/4" squares (right sides together) use a scant quarter inch seam.
Cut diagonally as shown.  Press open and square up to 1 1/4"
For the stem, sew the triangles (from the 1 5/8" squ. which was cut diagonally once) to each side of the stem piece.
Now you can assemble the pieces as shown in the picture.  Square up to 2 3/4"

Come back to visit soon and hopefully I'll have made a mini quilt to show, with 12 of these maple leaf blocks.

Bright and Colorful!

I love how vibrant and happy this quilt is!
Another coworker is retiring and my manager and her daughter pieced together this bright and colorful quilt top!

I'm so glad I can help out a bit in the process by doing the machine quilting on my Sunshine 16!  The colors and designs in the fabrics make you want to dance and so the quilting is wavy free motion lines that are swaying to the music!
Each block is made of a 3 inch center square and then 2 inch strips as shown.  In this quilt, right in the center of all the colorful strips, is a black and white checked square.

The recipient is 70 and still going strong.  I'm sure she will love this!

These blocks turned out a bit smaller than the others and so Maggie sewed them into the backing.

Sew, sew cute!!
