Pumpkin Spice UFO all Done!

Love the earthy colors with a hint warm sunshine on a crisp fall day.

In front of the window which has its own autumn splendor on display.  Oh, and I just noticed the little pink rose buds standing proudly on a cold fall morning!

Showing the quilting designs.

The brown ones and color ones are different but similar.  Keeps me from getting bored while free motion quilting.

The backing is yellow fleece and I added batting also for cozy warmth

It's just a bit dull with the River Birch backdrop outside in autumn glory

I was searching old posts to see when I started this quilt and it was in 2016 so only 6 years to completion, lol!
Pumpkin Spice blocks laid out in 2017

And here is my inspiration from Pinterest  I didn't add borders like she did.  Hmmmm, I wonder if I should have?  Oh and I just noticed her blocks are on point and I love that!!  Now you know I didn't follow the pattern, just my own inclination.  But I still love mine too!
You may have seen this popular pin on Pinterest and I loved it too so went ahead and purchased the pattern (link here) and pulled similar fabrics from my stash and 6 years later, Voila!

Fall fun and some Pumpkin mini wall hangings and tutorial

Fun and Scrappy with a little hand quilting.  Finished about 12 inches.  Find the tutorial here.

Fun swirls and stars free motion quilting.  The center 4 patches have a double heart quilting design

Maple Leaf blocks made into a short runner were part of a left over UFO that was never completed

These star blocks as well as the leaf blocks above, were from My Carolina Home's 2020 Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along  If you scan through her posts she still has the tutorials in her blog and she has a current one that she just finished up!

The pumpkin with the scalloped border is similar to one I saw on All People Quilt but I made mine smaller.  The Quilts in the Pumpkin Patch mini wall hanging is from my own tutorial here

Hope you are having some fun sewing up Fall things!  The long wall hanging was inspired by a pattern by Kathleen Tracy but I just made mine using the 6 1/2" pumpkins from this tutorial I created.

Here's a peek at my pumpkin spice quilt I've been working on for years.  I was searching to see where I blogged about it in the past and can't find any posts!

Finally getting the binding on!  So will do a UFO finish post soon.  The pattern is here in case you want to buy it.  She has lots of cute patterns.

Pumpkin Block and Wall Hanging Tutorial

I have some cutting instructions and pictures in case you want to use a 6 1/2" (unfinished) pumpkin to make your own fall creation

1st the pumpkin block   Sew pieces together and square up to be 6 1/2"
Cut the orange 5 1/2 x 6 1/2"  Snowball the corners with 1 1/2" squares.  The brown stem is 1 1/2" with one corner snowballed with a 1" square (or maybe it was 3/4")  The side pieces are 1 1/2 x 3" (cut two)

Add the border pieces (see cutting directions below) and square the block up to 8"
Then add the side borders (see cutting directions below)

The 3 blocks for each side are not square, they are rectangles 2 1/2 x 3" and in the corners are 2 1/2" squares.

Quilt and Bind as desired.

Or make three pumpkin blocks to make this long wall hanging.
Add background cream borders to ONLY the left and right sides of the pumpkins 1 1/4" x 6 1/2" and then add some color borders on top and bottom of each pumpkin block.  Sew together as shown, then add some side and top borders and quilt and bind as desired.  See finished wall hanging in this post

Fun Halloween Quilts and a few favorites from the Boise Basin Quilt Show

The black polka dot binding adds just the right pizazz!  Here's a link to the tutorial
and another link

I made this quilt top last year and wanted to finish it and present it to my friend to celebrate her last chemo treatment.  You can see it has plaid purple fleece on the back.

I made the little candy blocks to go in with the piano key border

lots of pictures to see all the candies

I sent her this one too since it has more of a fall theme

These next pictures are quilts I saw at the Boise Basin Quilt Show and ones I hope to make!

I want to make a barn quilt to go with my farm themed quilts and toppers
I bought this sheep pattern and loved they made it with four sheep

I loved that the pumpkins are just stars with a stem.  I love the colors too.

For another new grandma (and her little grandson) at work.  Scrappy granny squares with woodland animal theme.

My coworker Luz just retired and has been a friend for 17 years.  I was happy to present her with A Walk in the Forest Quilt.  She is a wonderful person and everyone will miss her!
