Christmas Corner: Christmas Potholders

I love the sweet fabrics!  The star fabric, I got when someone was destashing.

He got some free motion eyes and smile

I started out with some orphan blocks and added borders.  It was taking a lot of time and my neck was getting sore so decided to focus on the star and gingerbread man blocks and save the trees for later.

I quilted the fronts and backs separately each with one piece of batting

Then added layer of jean fabric (from my husbands clean, worn out jeans) and stitched the three layers together before finally adding the binding

They are nice and sturdy and turned out pretty cute!

Here is a post with free PDF for the gingerbread man by Wendy Sheppard and here is a tutorial for the sawtooth star that I made by Amy Smart at her blog, Diary of a Quilter.  I recommend making your potholder a couple inches bigger than you think you want since after washing, it shrinks it substantially.

Colorful Topper

This was going to get put away for another year without progress but then I decided to work on it.

So glad to add another quilted item to go out with this cute little hanging, although it could be anytime that calls for a little burst of color.  Birthdays, spring, summer.

Added the final border and then decided to work on some quilting

I will add binding later
