Dying Fabric using a Tea Bag

I bought this ombre fabric but the stark white vines didn't sit well with me.  I decided to try dying the fabric with tea.  I used the large tea bag in the picture which is made for making a pitcher of iced tea.

I boiled a couple quarts of water in a big pot and added the tea bag and let it steep for about 10 minutes.

I added the fabric into the "tea" and let it boil for a few minutes and then turned it down to simmer.

I let it simmer for a couple of hours.  You can see here that the vines are no longer white.

I rinsed out the tea in cold water and washed and dried the fabric.  I really like how it turned out with the vines now a cream color and the light part of the ombre fabric is not so pink.

The color change looks great. I sometimes use tea for dyeing too, gives the fabric a nice look.

That's a great tip! A natural solution, too!
