Stripes and Stars Pillow UPDATE

Here are a couple updated pictures with the pillow cover quilted.
Lots of changing the white and red thread.  Blue stars quilted with swirls after the straight line quilting all done

The straight line quilting did shrink it vertically by about 1/2" so it looks square now.

I found this free pattern on the Moda Cutting Table blog.  It is designed by Carrie Nelson.
I forgot my plan to do some quilting prior to making it into a pillow cover and thought it looked great anyway, but as I look at this photo, I think I will go ahead and take it apart and do the quilting to give it a little more body so it sits nicer.

Here you can see it with the patriotic, George Washington crossing the Delaware print in the background.  The professionally cut double mat from Michaels frames it just right.
The pillow cover looks longer than it is wide but it's actually square.  I guess it's an optical illusion.  I'm going to do straight line quilting horizontally and I think it will make it look more square.

These are the pillows made by Carrie.  There is also a pattern for the single star pillow both at the link here.

Graduation Quilt Complete

Big Nines for my nephew.
Original Post when it was just a flimsy here with link to Amanda's tutorial

Adding a few with the garden.  These flowers are really vibrant.  The picture doesn't do them justice.
Here by the pumpkin patch
There's a pumpkin runner on the berm and you can see the vegetable garden boxes.  We were so amazed by how these plants flourished this summer.  After we planted them last September, they were cut down and mulched in the late fall and covered with 2 feet of snow in the winter.

You can just see the biggest pumpkin still dark green hiding beneath the leaves.  There are several other smaller ones.
Here's some delicious zucchini, fresh from the garden, sliced, egg washed, floured, sauteed, and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

One more of the garden boxes and berm.  Zucchini on the left.  We haven't got any red tomatoes or bush beans yet but got an Anaheim pepper and made some salsa!

Happy Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by.

Keepsake Christmas Quilting and Pinners Con

Watching Hallmark Christmas movies while Christmas sewing in July is one of the best things!
One goal is to make a Keepsake Mini Quilt for a drawing to give away in my best friend's class.
The class will be presented at Pinners Utah this November.  I went with her last year and it was great fun with lots of classes to choose from and all kinds of vendors and even free stuff!  It's a great Girls weekend!
Here's a link if you want to find out more and get the discount code.
This little framed quilt has a fussy cut 6 1/2" center.

Needs another red border.
This one has a patchwork center with Christmas village scenic borders.
The patchwork squares are 2" (1 1/2" finished) with 3 1/4" fussy cut borders.  It finishes a little over 12" square.

It was fun pulling out the Christmas fabrics and getting in the Christmas spirit!

God Bless America, Land that I Love!

A couple days late, but I love to keep my Americana decor out into August anyway.

It's always nice to finish, but three finishes is triple the wonderfulness!
I started this a year or two ago.  (And have another one partially finished)
All it needed was quilting and binding.  I'm going to add little red heart buttons to the star centers.

I used the free Craftsy single layer binding tutorial but increased to 1 3/8" for the width on the dark blue one and it was better.
