Here are a couple updated pictures with the pillow cover quilted.
Lots of changing the white and red thread. Blue stars quilted with swirls after the straight line quilting all done |
The straight line quilting did shrink it vertically by about 1/2" so it looks square now. |
I found this free pattern on the Moda Cutting Table blog. It is designed by Carrie Nelson.
Here you can see it with the patriotic, George Washington crossing the Delaware print in the background. The professionally cut double mat from Michaels frames it just right.
These are the pillows made by Carrie. There is also a pattern for the single star pillow both at the link here.

What a great looking pillow - the fabrics are lovely. And, it perfectly fits the chair, by the window, and that Crossing the Delaware print making it a sweet, patriotic corner.
It's lovely! Did you get so excited to see it as a pillow, you forgot to quilt it? That happened to me when I first learned to quilt a spiral. I'd decided to use a QAYG method, and never thought to put the backing on. I was just too eager to stitch those spirals! I love this. It's definitely going on my list of things to make!
I am in love with this pillow. And although the 4th of July has passed, I am going to download the pattern in anticipation of next year. I'll have a whole year to glean through my scraps and add if necessary to get a good variety. Thanks a bunch!
wow, i love that pillow! of course, i love anything patriotic lol. looks great!
