Thinking Christmas Gifts -- Mug Rug and Cookie Mix in a Jar Tutorials

I'm going to teach a class to make the little mug rug (see tutorial) and the cookie mix in a jar.

Little Christmasy mug rug.  You can also see a little tag I pinned on.  I had made it using white ink and embossing powder and a Stampin' Up stamp.

For the cookie mix in the jar you will need:

1.  Jar (I used a spaghetti sauce jar)-- you could use a mason jar.
2.  1 1/8 cup of flour mixed with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp baking soda
3.  3/8ths cup of packed brown sugar (use a spoon to lay it loosely into the jar)
4.  3/8ths cup of white sugar
5.  1 cup of chocolate chips
6.  Sheet of white paper 8 1/2 x 11"
Make a funnel with the paper, leaving the hole at the bottom as large as possible, while also leaving the opening at the top as large as possible.

Tape it to maintain the funnel shape
Put the flour in the jar using the funnel to prevent the flour from coating the inside of the upper jar.  Layer in the other ingredients in the order they are listed (no need to use the funnel).

Place a piece of wax paper on top (to maintain freshness) and then place the lid on the jar.

Place a 5 inch square of fabric over the lid and tie in place with a piece of raffia.
I made this label (using my simple drawing and the "Paint" program).  You can make your own or you may use mine.  (Tutorial is here if you want to make your own.)
You can also print these directions out on card stock to attach to the raffia.
I tried out the recipe and baked the cookies today and they were delicious!

Just wanted to show you how nice the ingredients look from the back of the jar.   And I got these cute mugs at Daiso!
