Time for Red and White Sewing

I took out my Valentine Day decorations and realized I have no quilty runners or toppers or wall hangings.  I checked Pinterest for ideas and then pulled out all my red and white scraps and got busy.

This cute little block is only 8 x 10" and called Box of Chocolates.  It is a free pattern from The Temecula Quilt Company.  I'm going to quilt it tomorrow.

This little topper is 3 1/2" squares sewn together and the scallop border is made with 3 1/2 x 2” rectangles with two corners snowballed with 1 3/8” squares

All quilted with hearts and swirls and bound with white

These scrappy hearts are made with 2 1/2” squares and half square triangles

I found a cute X O pillow tutorial from a Quilting Life so have been making some

Update:  Sew cute (and calorie free) Box of Chocolates all done!

Timeless Treasure Tuscan Poppies Sunset Panel Quilt

My first finish of 2022.  I actually ordered three panels which came in a continuous cut, so I was able to cut my sections a little wider.  The sunset looks like a very hot day which is in contrast to the bit of snow you can see in the photo.

I'm so happy the Tuscan Poppy quilt is complete.

The 3D poppies are made like 3D pinwheels except you fold back the top edge of each section to round the petal and also the inside corner just a little so you can see the black center. I sewed some beads inside the poppies to imitate real poppy centers.  Most of the poppies I made with 3 petals and then a green folded square to make the part that attaches to the stem.

It was a lot of appliqué which is not my favorite, but I love how it turned out and it's even prettier in real life.

Buffalo plaid flannel backing.  I washed the quilt and the red ran onto the back but luckily found some quilter advice and soaked in dawn dishwashing liquid (only briefly) and then washed with color catchers and as you can see, no red or pink left!  Not sure if the Dawn helped or not.  I'll send the rest of the box to my cousin for when she washes it.

Winter 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club

I have some projects I really would like to finish soon and saw this UFO club on The Joyful Quilter blog, for the first quarter of the year and figured it might give me some extra motivation.  There are some rules which are pretty easy to follow.  List your projects and complete at least one (I hope to finish at least three).  Encourage others.  So here is my list!

Perfect for Valentine's Day post here

I have about 8 of these log cabin blocks made and with another 4 or 8, would be lovely for Valentine's Day or any day really!  Original Post here.

This would be a cute wall hanging to finish post here

This quilt top is ready to be quilted

Another Pink one would love to finish for February.  Post here

I love Irish chains and would love to finish this scrappy one!  Post for this and the shamrock one here

This is another Irish quilt which would love to finish before St. Patrick's day

Winter Table Runner original post here

One more winter project.
I would love to use the winter artic animals to make a quilt for my grandson.  original post here

This quilt just needs the borders completed and will be ready to quilt.  It's made from a Tuscan poppy panel with packed poppy and tossed poppy borders and the final border is 3D poppies and vines.

This is a half square triangle sampler quilt made with French General Fabrics.  I have some fabric ordered to make a final border.  Original post with link to the quilt along

Gosh I just kept finding UFO's that fit in the winter category.  Well the French General and Poppy Quilt are actually ones I've been meaning to finish along with many others so I can give my Valentine Day birthday cousin a choice of quilts since I promised her one ten years ago!  So that is my number one priority.
I'm going to ask her to choose an unfinished one that I will finish or she can choose the tree quilt that is lovely and all finished and get it in the mail ASAP!
